Protecting Children As Consumers: European Perspectives
Kind & Gezin Hallepoortlaan 27, B -1060 Brüssel, Belgien
University of Liverpool - European Children's Rights Unit
This is the 3rd seminar of a seminar series that will provide a unique platform for critical discussion and interdisciplinary exchange relating to the role of the European institutions – notably the European Union and the Council of Europe - in shaping children’s rights. It represents a timely response to a number of important legal, policy, monitoring and campaign initiatives introduced at this level that seek to tackle a range of children’s rights issues.
This seminar will explore the added value and impact of European intervention in child health issues, particularly in the context of the growing problems associated with childhood obesity and children’s mental health. Topics of discussion will include the balance that should be struck between top-down regulation of the food industry and more bottom-up awareness-raising.
Registration for this event is free and lunch/refreshments will be provided. Participants are asked to cover their own travel/accommodation expenses.
As places for the seminar are very limited, participation will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Young people are particularly encouraged to register. Participants can register at the following link: eurochild.wufoo.eu/forms/seminar-15-september-2014-brussels/
