European open summit explores digital youth participation

How can more young people be given an opportunity to influence political decisions using digital tools? Over the last two years, the European innovation project EUth has tried to answer this question – and has developed a toolbox known as OPIN. #WeAct - J7 returns to Berlin

The young participants of the J7 Summit in 2015, the youth counterpart of the G7 Summit, returned to Berlin one year later to discuss their recent achievements, prepare their next projects and draw up plans for the future. Dr Ralf Kleindiek, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, joined the J7 delegates from the G7 states, the EU and Africa who had travelled to Berlin with their backpacks full of ideas and experiences. European projects for online participation link up

The international seminar #BePart on the topic of e-participation for young people took place from 19 to 22 November 2015 in Brussels. The purpose was to share the findings and experiences gathered during the multilateral cooperation project “youthpart”, which was carried out by IJAB from 2011 to 2013. Further exchanges and meetings are already being planned. [read more]

Youth as Actors of Change – Shaping and developing the EU Youth Strategy through research and innovation

The policy kick-off meeting for the projects in the tender category YOUNG 2014, part of the new Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, took place in Brussels on 10 and 11 June. The eight projects were presented to European Commission representatives from a range of policy areas, followed by a discussion of the various approaches and desired outcomes. IJAB is a partner in one of the new projects, which addresses youth e-participation. [read more]

A memorable experience

The J7 Youth Summit came to an end in Berlin on 13 May. Over the course of a week, young delegates from the G7 member states, the European Union and guests from developing and emerging countries prepared a position paper on the key issues of the G7 Summit. State Secretary Dr. Ralf Kleindiek said goodbye to participants on Wednesday. [read more]

The J7 Youth Summit was launched in Berlin on 7 May. Young people from all over the world have gathered to discuss topics on the G7 Summit agenda and formulate in a position paper what they expect of the decisions of the heads of state of the major industrial nations.
