Eurodesk Spain: Evaluation and planning – ready for 2015!

From 19 to 21 November 2014, the Spanish Eurodesk network met at CEULAJ (the Euro-Latin American Centre for Youth) in Molina. CEULAJ is the central residential training centre for young people of INJUVE, the Spanish Youth Institute. Eurodesk innovations and plans for 2015 were introduced and there was critical discussion of last year's work. [read more]

Quo vadis Egyptian youth? Status and perspective of youth work in Egypt four years after the revolution

Since the revolution in Egypt, we carefully monitor young Arabic people in their search for social participation and democratic decision-making. In the wake of bloody mass demonstrations, young Egyptians are fighting for political change and new opportunities. IJAB invited German youth work representatives to travel to Cairo on a study visit from 1 to 6 November in order to see for themselves what the current state of development was in the youth sector, and to also establish contacts for future cooperation. Eurodesk Europe: advice and discussion on the parameters of future work

The Eurodesk Europe Network meeting took place in Riccione, Italy, from 6 to 9 November 2014 and, 10 months after the start of the European Erasmus+ Programme, decided on the parameters for the coming years. The Eurodesk Network is an information and advisory structure in the field of youth mobility, funded by Erasmus+. The Eurodesk General Assembly was held at the same time. [read more]

German-Greek Youth Forum became a project think tank

By invitation of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) and IJAB, civil society organisations from Germany and Greece met up in Bad Honnef from 3 to 6 November to develop project ideas within the German-Greek youth exchange programme. After a rather restrained start, the meeting developed an amazing momentum - a breath of fresh air for the German-Greek youth exchange, laying the foundations for a future German-Greek Youth Office. Empowerment of German and Japanese young people

Since 2002, the office of the Japanese Prime Minister (Japanese Cabinet Office) has run a multilateral qualification programme entitled the "Young Core Leaders of Civil Society Groups Development Program" in Japan and various partner countries. Within this context, IJAB arranged on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) a programme for young Japanese child and youth services professionals, which took place in Berlin and Koblenz from 12 to 21 October. Since 2012, Germany, Finland, France, and Luxembourg have been involved in an intense dialogue on questions concerning the transition of young people to training and employment. Time to Move – Eurodesk-Network gets acquainted with new online tools

At this year's European seminar for Eurodesk's local and regional multipliers, effective dissemination of information and the possibilities offered by the Youth Guarantee were discussed with representatives of the European Youth Forum and the EU Commission. From 13 to 16 October, new online tools and advisory services were considered in Brussels. [read more]

48 hours in transition: Young people's proposals for the transition phase

Some 40 young people from across Europe met up in Bonn on 13 to 15 October for an international youth conference entitled "Visions for your future". Together, they discussed the challenges young people throughout Europe experience during the transition from school to training or employment. They devised ideas on how to improve the situation and discussed them with experts from youth policy and child and youth services. [read more]

There Are Still Blocks Inside My Own Head...

Within the context of the "Innovationsforum Jugend global" (Innovations Forum Global Youth), several of the participating organisations broached the subject of being confronted with issues concerning right-wing extremism and racism during the course of their work and how, when dealing with these issues, they feel that they come up against their own limits. With this in mind, IJAB hosted the "Rechtsextremismus und Rassismus als Themen in der Internationalen Jugendarbeit" (Right-Wing Extremism and Racism as Issues within International Youth Work) seminar in Frankfurt on September 24 and 25.
