The platform offers detailed information on the structures, policies and measures that exist to support young people. It covers the eight areas of the EU Youth Strategy 2009-2018 : Education & training, employment & entrepreneurship, health & well-being, participation, voluntary activities, social inclusion, youth & the world, and creativity & culture.
The Youth Wiki aims to promote more European cooperation in the field of youth. It also serves to support policy development by providing coherent, reliable and comparable data and background information that is compiled and regularly updated by a network of national correspondents. This network, and the platform itself, are managed by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). In this area, EACEA works closely with the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission.

27 countries are currently engaged in producing content for the Youth Wiki. Germany is represented in the Youth Wiki network by IJAB, the International Youth Service of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Youth Wiki will go live in 2017.

It receives financial support from the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme.
